About

Kasamaru is an all steel Goderich 35 built by Huromic Metal Industries in Goderich Ontario. They are characterized with smooth, not hard ,chines. Designed by Ted Brewer they have an excellent reputation for blue water cruising. This one has a custom pilothouse with inside steering. The underbody is typical of Brewer full keel designs with the "brewer bite" & cutaway forefoot. Powered by an 85 HP diesel, updated equipment includes Evolution Main & jib, staysail & cruising spinnaker. The raised bulwarks on these designs provide excellent footing & safety while moving around on the deck. Excellent deck drainage from cutouts in the bulwarks. The exterior finish is in good shape & the bottom has been epoxied. All interiior steel below the water line has been foamed.

This vessel was donated to Brigs last year. Brigs is a Youth Sail Training operation based in Hamilton, Ontario. The sale of the vessel will help Brigs continue their fine work.

Deck & rig

Bow & stern rails, double lifelines & gates. Pedestal steering. Self tailing primary winches. Royal manual windlass. Numerous overhead hatches & opening ports. Atkins & Hoyle dinghy davits. Cockpit cushions. Welded steps on the transom.

Single spreader cutter rigged mast & boom. Some lines led aft. Full traveller on the coach roof. Full battened mainsail, furling genoa, furling gear, hank on staysail & cruising spinnaker, all updated,

Interior layout.

The main salon has 2 settees port & starboard, a nav station & inside helm to starboard & a chart table & storage lockers to port. The pilothouse offers good visibility all around.

Step down to the galley to starboard & a dinette to port. The galley has a 3 burner propane stove with oven, a deep icebox with 12v refrigeration & a large stainless steel sink with pressure water. The dinette to port drops down to form another berth.

Forward to port is an enclosed head with vanity & handheld shower. Opposite is a large hanging locker & a bank of drawers.

The V berth is forward with shelves & lockers below.

Overall, the interion is mostly good teak joinery. It would benefit with some updating of the upholstery & cabin sole flooring.

Electrical systems

12v side consists of house & starting battery systems. Shore power has a marine battery charger & shore power cord. Updated Blue Seas electrical panels.

Vhf radio with remote mike. Garmin GPSmap XS with radar, Comnav autopilot. Older instruments (as is)

4 pad steel cradle, Rockna & plow anchors with chain & rode. 4 fenders & mooring liines. Safety gear incuding PFD’s. Manual & electric bilge pumps. Zinc anodes port & starboard keel are & on the rudder.
