NORTHERN COMFORT was built by Wray Brown at their St. Williams, Ontario shipyard which is recognized internationally for its skills and versatility. The original owners purchased NORTHERN COMFORT as a liveaboard vessel, capable of long-range cruising. She is not the typical custom steel boat that was finished by a well-meaning but lesser-skilled private individual. The interior work was professionally done. She's comfortable and solid, but not fancy.
Her Europa-style layout lends itself very nicely to the cruising lifestyle. As you enter the salon from the stern, there is a galley to the port and a small head to starboard. Moving further forward, there is a spacious salon with room to relax. To starboard is the lower helm with great visibility. Moving forward and going down a few steps is an island queen with storage to starboard and a full-size head with shower to port. The flybridge area is large with plenty of seating and room for a dinghy and outboard and an electric winch on the mast davit.
With a fuel capacity of 700 gallons and water capacity of 400 gallons, NORTHERN COMFORT has the capability of making extended passages. Her 135 hp Perkins Diesel makes her economical to run (1.5 GPH at5 knots), and her Onan 8.0 KW generator provides for all her power needs at anchor. NORTHERN COMFORT has always served as a safe, seaworthy and comfortable home for both sets of her owners.
In the interest of full disclosure, her canvas is tired and should be replaced. She could use a bit of sprucing up interior-wise with an overall cleaning and some redecorating. Having said this, she certainly appears to be structurally and mechanically sound. For those willing to take the road less traveled, she is patiently awaiting to be upgraded aesthetically and taken on her next voyage.
