Funklikity | 1978 Hughes 38 MkIII Sloop

Iroquois, ON, CA

About

The Hughes 38 was affectionally known as a "Gentleman's Racer". Sporting the classic lines of a Sparkman & Stevens designed hull, she is a rugged and stable bluewater sailboat, capable of withstanding almost any weather condition.

Funklikity has many custom upgrades which set her apart from all the other Hughes 38's on the market. She is Blue Book registered and is very roomy belowdecks. Both settees convert to double berths, and the v-berth is truly a large sleeping area. She also has a spacious head and lots of storage.

She is an estate sale so there are a few projects to finish up before she is launched. The owner appears to have spent an enormous amount of time and money on her. She boasts relatively new electronics, 5 newer Andersen self-tailing winches, very well kept interior, epoxy barrier coat on her hull and more. She has been Awlgripped at some point with a beautiful dark blue and her comfortable cockpit will keep her owners-to-be safe and sound. Her Atomic 4 engine appears to have been rebuilt fairly recently and she has a new fuel tank for the new owners to install. As well, she has a very favourable 2023 Insurance Survey that can be shared.

Funklikity appears to have lived a very pampered life. She is a very safe and enjoyable boat for the discerning sailor.

Testimonials

As first-time boat buyers and as foreigners wanting to buy a cruising catamaran in the US, we knew we needed a reliable broker that had our best interests in mind. John Heintzman was just that, and more! He was extremely committed to understanding what we were looking for, gave great advice, and guided us through the purchase process with great patience and knowledge. All in all, we felt very well taken care of.

I feel compelled to reach out about the absolutely wonderful experience that I have had with Grant and Patricia Bowlby. I completed the purchase of a boat yesterday and I couldn’t be happier. They were so helpful, kind, and patient. This was my first experience with a broker, and I think I’ve found the best.

I can’t thank Ewan Campbell enough for the super job he did in selling G, making up for my lack of experience in this realm and patiently searching for just the right buyer and a win-win for seller and buyer alike.

It was a wonderful experience selling A with Jeff Cole’s expert assistance. Thank you for simplifying a complicated process. Your patience and kindness are especially appreciated.

I just wanted to thank Jeff Cole for all his hard work. He was very professional and effective.
