About
The Niagara 35 has earned a reputation as a fast, easily managed blue water cruiser. The traditional looks of a pronounced sheer, trunk cabin with a teak molding, and a bowsprit provide a functional deck layout and sail plan. The wide side decks, molded bulwark and large foredeck permit secure sail handling and anchoring. The V-ed hull, long fin keel and balanced rudder provide a soft dry ride at sea, excellent tracking ability and quick but light response from the helm either under sail or power.
The Mark I features an aft cabin accessed via the companionway with 2 quarter berths, a nav station and large hanging locker. The head and galley are 'walk-through' to starboard and port respectively. This arrangement works well underway as the high use areas of the boat are located amidships. The galley is arranged fore and aft with the sink on centerline and 3 burner gimbaled stove with oven and ice box outboard. Ventilation is provided by and overhead skylight hatches and dorade vents.
Forward of the galley and head are two facing settees, one of which converts to a double berth and a drop leaf table. Ample ventilation is provided belowdecks with 4 skylight hatches and 6 opening ports. The forward area is comprised of sail-bins and a work table, directly below a large sail handling hatch.
Mostly fresh water sailed, Soul Sailor has had her deck recored last winter and features a well-kept original finish on her hull. The original Volvo sail-drive was replaced by a 40 hp Volvo sail-drive in the mid-1990's and performs very well. Extensively equipped, this yacht would be a great choice for an owner looking to upgrade to a well-built classic cruising yacht.
